CaCl₂
Calcium Chloride(CaCl₂)
1. Product Overview
Anhydrous calcium chloride particles are produced by the reaction of limestone and hydrochloric acid. The product meets the requirements of the national standard "Calcium Chloride for Industrial Use" (GB/T 26520-2021).
2. Process Flow
2.1 Solution Preparation Section
In this project, calcium carbonate is used to react with by-product hydrochloric acid in a one-step reaction. The resulting acidic calcium chloride solution is then neutralized with calcium hydroxide slurry. The reaction is relatively complete and the neutralization is thorough. The main chemical reaction is as follows:
CaCO₃ + 2HCl = CaCl₂ + H₂O + CO₂↑
Process Description:
Calcium carbonate stones from the stockpile are loaded by forklift into the elevator feed hopper, then elevated by the elevator to a belt conveyor, which evenly distributes the calcium carbonate stones into each reaction tank.
The by-product hydrochloric acid from the hydrochloric acid tank farm is pumped by the hydrochloric acid pump and metered before entering the reactors. Under slight negative pressure, the hydrochloric acid reacts with the calcium carbonate placed in the tanks to generate calcium chloride mother liquor. During the reaction, carbon dioxide is released, carrying with it some hydrogen chloride tail gas. The acidic exhaust gases from the reactors and the hydrochloric acid tanks are collected and sent to the tail gas absorption system, where they are scrubbed by circulating industrial water. The scrubbed gas is discharged to atmosphere via a 15 m-high stack meeting emission standards. The acidic industrial water is discharged into the calcium hydroxide slurry pool to produce calcium hydroxide solution.
The acidic calcium chloride solution generated from the reaction is neutralized with calcium hydroxide solution at ambient temperature and pressure, with the pH value being adjusted accordingly. The neutralized calcium chloride solution is then sent by filter press feed pump to the filter press. The clear calcium chloride filtrate obtained from filtration is sent to the solution tank for settling and storage for subsequent use.
31% hydrochloric acid reacts with limestone to produce a 35% calcium chloride solution.
2.2 Granulation Section
Materials: The calcium chloride solution from the solution preparation section is pumped by atomization pumps to the granulator spray guns and atomized into the fluidized bed granulator. Under the action of high-temperature hot air, water evaporation and coating granulation are completed. The calcium chloride granules from the fluidized bed are elevated by a bucket elevator to a rotary screen for classification. The finished product granules enter a rotary cooler for cooling and are then packaged. The finer particles are returned via a screw conveyor to the granulator as bed material for further granulation.
Air: Combustion air in the hot air furnace burns with natural gas to generate high-temperature hot air. Ambient air is regulated by a blower to the required temperature for granulation and then introduced into the fluidized bed. The low-temperature tail gas from granulation is first collected in a cyclone dust collector to remove some dust, then enters an absorption tower for further dust removal by scrubbing with circulating liquid, and finally is discharged by an induced draft fan.
